Corporate responsibility (CR) is an important part of Canal Digital’s daily operations. Canal Digital strives to focus on responsible business practices across all of its markets.
Like all the companies in Telenor, our main goals are: to ensure continuous improvements in all areas where we identify CR challenges, and to comply with all relevant international standards within CR.
Responsible business practices in Canal Digital are concentrated around three core areas:
- Environmental management- to identify and manage environmental impacts in line with international standards and ensure compliance with Telenor Group Policies and Procedures
- Social – to identify and manage social impacts of Canal Digital’s business, such as human rights impacts and supply chain follow-up, and mitigate potential risks
- Governance – to ensure adherence to high standards for business ethics and internationally proclaimed human and labor rights
An example of CR in practice is Canal Digital’s cooperation with Barnevakten in Norway (translated to “the babysitter”. Similar to the association named “Kids and Media” in the UK). Barnevakten is an organization that provides advice in regards to children’s media use. The target group is parents, teachers and others with responsibility for children. The organization also provides advice to media companies on ethical guidelines. The vision of the babysitter is to help children use media in a safe and conscious way.
